About

Originally from Mongolia, Anu is an accomplished classical pianist with an impressive 24-year musical journey. At the age of 13, Anu made her debut as a soloist with the Mongolian Conservatory Orchestra, performing Kabalevsky’s Piano Concerto No.3.

Anu has performed internationally in numerous prestigious venues, including Lincoln Center in New York, Unesco Theater in Paris, the Mongolian State Philharmonic, the Mongolian State Opera Theatre, the Mongolian Music and Dance Conservatory, Passionskirche Cathedral in Berlin, the Conservatory of Music in Geneva, the Washington Pavillion in Sioux Falls, SD and Opera America in New York. A winner of numerous awards and prizes from international piano competitions, Anu’s performances have been broadcast on television and radio in Mongolia. Her national and international piano competition prizes include first place in the Kabalevsky Concerto Competition in Mongolia, Grand Prix winner in M.N. Georgievskaya Piano Competition in Mongolia, two-time second-place winner in Milosz Magin International Piano Competition in France, first-place winner in J. Chuluun International Piano Competition in Mongolia, first-place winner in Concerto Competition in Sioux Falls, SD and a special place in Russian Music Competition in California, USA. As a result of winning multiple international competitions and contributing to the success of Mongolian classical music being known internationally, Anu was awarded a government prize in Mongolia.

She has performed as a soloist many times with orchestras such as the Mongolian State Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Mongolian State Opera House Symphony Orchestra, the Mongolian Music and Dance Conservatory Orchestra and the Augustana University Symphony Orchestra under the batons of maestros such as Jungho Kim, Butenbayar Namsraijav, Batbaatar Buriad and Lhagvaa Banzar.

Anu received her Pre-Doctorate degree from New York University, a Master of Music Degree from Southern Methodist University and Bachelor’s degree from Augustana University. She also studied at the Mongolian Conservatory since she was 5 years old, which is the most prestigious music school in Mongolia. Anu’s private teachers include Marilyn Nonken, Alfred Mouledous, Rick Andrews, Myagmartseren Tserenjigmed and Tungalag Chadraabal. She has also taken private lessons and master classes from renowned pianists such as Joaquin Achucarro, Alessio Bax, Lucille Chung, Luis Sanchez, Steven Spooner and Stephen Beus.

Anu Uranchimeg possesses a profound passion for both performance and education, demonstrating a remarkable ability to connect with students of all ages. Widely regarded as a beloved and respected teacher, Anu has cultivated a positive and nurturing learning environment, inspiring her students to excel. Her commitment to excellence is evident in the achievements of her students, who have successfully participated in prestigious competitions such as DMTA and MTNA, as well as various international and national contests, securing noteworthy accolades.

With a rich teaching background, Anu has previously served as a group and private piano instructor at Mountain View Community College in Dallas. More recently, she contributed her expertise as an adjunct faculty member at the piano department of New York University Steinhardt. Anu’s dedication to education began early in her career, as she initiated her journey into teaching while still a high school student at the Mongolian Music Conservatory. This unique trajectory underscores her unwavering commitment to fostering musical talent and imparting knowledge to future generations.
